Last weekend, Peter was a guest speaker at Word Camp Wellington 2018, where he gave a well received talk on SEO. Word Camp focuses on everything WordPress and helps web professionals share knowledge and geek out about the ever evolving system that is WordPress. We were super pumped to be there.
Purple are often asked why we recommend a WordPress based website so we thought we’d really lay it out *deep breath* here goes…
WordPress is the best CMS for SEO
- We believe you should have a website that allows you to make changes to content yourself without being tied into waiting for a developer to do it for you. (This is your CMS – content management system). WordPress is a great system for this.
- WordPress also allows you to add basic search engine marketing functionality to their sites with a few clicks, adding one of the many popular plugins. That by itself isn’t going to compete with any really popular competitors your site might have, but it’s enough to start ticking Google’s boxes. Tick those Google boxes people! Tick them!
- Those plugins open up a world of options and configurations that any proper SEO expert can use to start building a robust organic search campaign.
- Search engines are always making changes to their own systems and adding new functions like AMP – Accelerated Mobile Pages (a system that Google started rolling out a few years ago). It changes every single month, and you need to stay on top of things like that to really master SEM. This is where the WordPress community start taking things to the next level. As those systems change, so too does the WordPress community. They race to update plugins, systems and settings to keep WordPress on top of SEO changes. Often within hours of a change to search engines and their systems – new options are available within your WordPress Dashboard.
You have never finished your SEO, it’s an ongoing process… so you need an adaptive and evolving CMS. Of course you also need a team who understand all those changes and can adapt your SEM campaign to perfection *ahem, Purple, cough*. But even off the shelf, WordPress is the best CMS for SEO.
Simply put Purple + WordPress is a match made in heaven. Feel the love.
